Online Adoption Screening Form

Please go to the Online Adoption Screening Form above,  fill it out completely and submit it if you are interested in a dog on this list. Once it is received, you will be "in the system" and will be contacted via email about which dog you are interested in. You have to understand that the dog you want may not be a good fit for your circumstances. We will discuss this with you so you understand what is the best for you and the dog.

We have tried to keep our adoption fees as low as possible, but due to the lack of foster homes, we have kenneling fees along with the escalating prices of routine shots and  the spaying and neutering of large dogs. Because of these costs, we need to require an adoption fee of $ 250.00 – to the high end of $ 500.00 for puppies.  The fees do vary depending on the age of the dogs, and the medical procedures performed

If you are unable to adopt, but would like to make a donation to help us care and find homes for these dogs (as you can see we've had a lot of health issues recently), you may make a secure online donation using a credit card or check.  We are a non profit corporation but we are not a 501c and unfortunately the donations are not tax deductible.  Every little bit helps.  Thank you!

URGENT !!!   URGENT !!!  URGENT !!!

MUSH would like to thank everyone who have made donations to help us pay for Kendall's medical expenses.  Her bills were pushing $ 3800.00 and with your help we have brought that figure down to $ 1900.00.   It seems this year we just can't get a break, medical expenses for spay and neuter of Malamute size have gone up and we've had others coming in with medical needs including a puppy (Charlie - mal/shep mix pic below) who had his eye scratched by a cat, this happened before he came into the shelter and went untreated.  We have decided to keep his eye but determining the cause and prognosis has been costly.  MUSH and the rescues hope you will continue to give your  financial support, but if this is not possible, please think about fostering,  Smokey and Capone are in a kennel where we pay a daily rate and could certainly use a foster home, each is unique in their situations, but loving dogs none the less.  If they aren't the dog for you, please tell others you feel may be interested.  We all THANK YOU for the help that you have provided to MUSH and to the future help!  We couldn't save Kendall but we will do our best to save others.

We usually don't put out urgent requests for financial assistance but at this time we must.  As mentioned above we are a non profit corporation but not a 501c where donations are tax deductible, ours are not,  we hope you will find it in your hearts to give whatever you can to help us to continue to save others.

WE HAVE YET ANOTHER DISTURBING SITUATION,  BUT A GOOD OUTCOME IS HOPEFUL WITH THAT VERY SPECIAL PERSON ! SEE MISTY'S STORY BELOW !

MISTY-  FEMALE    1 YR OLD

Meet Misty, this girl was out living on her own for about 4mths until she finally came down and allowed someone to capture her.  They had to trap her but she had to be willing.  The picture on the right shows her after surgery to remove an embedded collar that had also wrapped under her leg.  This girl is young, and doing the math she was just over 6mths old when she found herself on her own, out growing that collar.

Misty is currently in a foster home,  she is quite shy as you see from the picture on the left but she is improving on a daily basis.  The foster home is working with her and willing to keep her until a home is found.

Due to the circumstances the person or persons wanting to adopt Misty will have to be patient and willing to travel to see her on a constant basis so she can gain your trust like she has the foster home's.  We are confident due to her age that she will continue to make great progress and remember what it was like to be a carefree puppy as she so deserves.

Misty is in the Grass Valley area, if you are interested please fill out our online application and mention Misty's name in "What you know about Malamutes".  Remember this will be a slow process and we cannot guarantee how long it will take, we are working with her foster and will also work with her potential new human.  We will only do what is in Misty's best interest, and we alsolike give a large round of Woo Woo's to this most caring and gracious foster home !

Smokey - Male, 8 years old

Smokey is an 8 yr old mix who is housebroken, knows sit, lay down, and walks okay on leash once he settles down.  He also knows high five !  Smokey gets along with other dogs, but he would be just as happy to wait by himself for someone to come home, and take him for a short walk or join you for a car ride while running errands.   Smokey would be great for the retiree who is looking for an older companion or someone who is busy and feel that don't have time to put into a younger dog.   Smokey just wants a place to call home.  Smokey has been in a kennel we use near Fremont for a very long time and would sure like to have the one on one companionship on a daily basis.  Could that person be you?

CAPONE   Male  6 years old

Capone is around 6 years old but still very active.  Given his one blue eye he is definitely a Siberian, Malamute mix who also could have some Shepherd in there.  He is a beautiful boy who rides well in the car, is okay on leash, once he settles down but could use some training.  Capone is willing to please.  and  would be a wonderful companion for the person who would give him the love and attention he deserves, along with consistency in training and activity.  Capone is currently in the Fremont area.

Lola - Female, 7 years old

Lola is 6 -7 years old would prefer a home where she can come in and out at will with a nice place in the house to stay and a yard to lay in when she pleases. If you are looking for a laid back dog that's not demonstrative with her love, loves to go on walks, ( she's great on leash) , or just go around town with you while running your errands,  Lola would love to accommodate you! She loves children and is one of those rare mals that won't let a stranger come into your home without you there.

Lola came into rescue almost totally without fur, it was determined she has certain food allergies and she's doing very well on her current diet, and an occasional Benedryl.  She has also been with another male mal and is doing well with him.

Lola is currently in the San Jose area.

Shadow 2 yr old Male

Shadow is a very handsome Alaskan Malamute, but you can see a little German Shepherd in him. He's about 2 yrs old, very healthy, has very classic Malamute colors, but a slight physique and more Shepherd-like coat. He can be stubborn like a Mal, but very smart, protective, and teachable like a Shepherd.

He can be very calm, and lie in one place for hours but on the other hand  has an enormous amount of energy and needs plenty of exercise.  A household with at least one other Siberian or Malamute would be ideal.  He's currently living with 4 other dogs,  2 males and 2 females and a person who is able to be at home most of the time, so we are trying to find a similar situation for him.  Shadow will not hesitate to try to get in the garbage even if you are right there watching him but when told no he will stop and look at you as if to say oh okay, if you're sure, well maybe after some hesitation.  With the combination of Malamute, and German Shepherd, he has many facets to his personality.     Shadow is currently in the San Jose area, and if you would like to learn more about Shadow

Joaquin & Thales -  Mal/Sibe mix Males  3 years old

Joaquin & Thales (rhymes with Baileys) are both 3 years old, .  They love being together and being with people.  If one walks one direction, the other is sure to follow.  They get along well with other dogs, and have lived with other dogs most of their lives.  They also get along well with people.  They are a great match for families with children because both are so sweet, good natured and tolerant.  The boys love going in the car, for walks, and to the dog park, where they are always complimented for being so sweet.  They love to run, and Joaquin chases Thales all the time at the park.  They also love having their ears and belly rubbed. The dogs do not like water, and therefore do not like baths.  They also don't like being brushed, but are not badly behaved when being brushed  Thales is the smaller of the two, and is about 69 pounds.  He is definitely the more adventurous one, and will get into mischief if left alone outside (jumping the fence, digging).  Thales is typically the one to jump first, and Joaquin always follows. Joaquin weighs about 83 pounds.  He is the more cuddly of the two, and loves to lay on or next to you.  He gives the best kisses!

Due to circumstances in their owners life they must find another home and would really love to stay together, both are housebroken, current on their shots and in excellent health.

Joaquin & Thales are currently in the Sacramento area.

Link - Male 9 mths old

Link is 9 mths old and could be a malamute/siberian mix.  He's about 60 lbs, has a shorter coat and is very talkative.  Due to circumstances his owner is forced to give him up, but he is currently living with a pit bull and a rat terrier.  Link could also be an only dog, he loves to be inside and around his people.  He is housebroken and current on his shots, but he does need to be neutered.  Link is currently in the San Jose area.

Coco- Female, 1 year old

Coco is around 65 pounds,  her dad is full malamute, but her mom was half malamute, half german shepherd. Coco is a very sweet dog.   She is housebroken, and previously crate tained.   She can sit and lay down on command (once she is settled down) Due to circumstances her owner has to find a new home for her. Coco is currently living with 3 children ages, 11, 8, and 5 years old that run around with her (the  5year old son even wrestles around with her-she does great).  She does still nip a little at their pant legs or shirt sleeves as she plays with them though. They also have 2 cats in the house.  She tries to play with them, but with the size differential, they are not interested.  She will sniff around them and walk away.  She loves to play with other dogs. She has never gotten aggressive with any other animal or person.

She loves walks, the beach, and she loves her belly rubbed...when she meets people on walks she will drop to the ground and present her belly to be rubbed.  She is also really cute when she talks, she really tries to communicate.  She is pretty quiet most of the time, they never have received any complaints from neighbors.

She does not like the vacuum very much or the boy's remote control cars. Coco is like most mals,  when she doesn't get the attention or walks, she gets destructive or digs.

Tonka 3 yr old male

ADOPTED

Tonka is about 3 yrs old but still acts like a pup who needs lots of excersise both mentally and physically. He can be gentle with young children but at the same time he is mouthy and he does play rough. If he doesn't get the quality time with you he can be a little destructive but again with proper exercise this issue can be curtailed. Like most mals in general getting Tonka to come is difficult but he loves his treats and that usually gets him every time. He loves to ride in cars.  He is very submissive to people he looks up to.

Tonka is excellent on a leash.  He heals, sits, lays down.  He will gives kisses when you get home or wake up in the morning, but Tonka will jump up and can be mouthy when he wants something, he also does the malamute scoot all over the yard and it doesn't matter if someone is in his way.  He does like getting on top of things, like patio tables but does get off if told to.  He doesn't jump fences but will find holes in the yard to get out, again especially if he feels he's not getting adequate attention or exercise.

Tonka will lay next to a cat but given the opportunity he will chase them as well.  He does do well with other dogs, is housebroken and previously crate trained.
